A listing on the Target app gave one Upper West Sider hope that the company’s new store here would be opening this weekend.
The Target app listed the new store at 1865 Broadway and 61st Street as opening this coming Sunday at 8 a.m. “I hope it’s right!!!” she wrote to us.
Alas, the app appears to have been wrong. A Target spokesperson told us that there is no news about the store.
We don’t have any additional information to offer at this point about when the Manhattan Columbus Circle Target store will be opening.
We appreciate your patience as we work hard to get everything in order to ensure that when the store does open, it is in wonderful shape and ready for some shopping fun.
After being available over the weekend, the store location was then pulled from the Target app by Wednesday, our tipster noted.
The new Target will have an “urban concept” layout, with two levels and 34,000 square feet, considerably smaller than suburban Targets. We last wrote about it here.

About your “Did no one notice ….”
Yup, someone DID, and the story above explicitly says: “The Target app listed the new store at 1865 Broadway and 61st Street as opening this coming Sunday at 8 a.m.”
Maybe the difference is that us iPhone-resisters read WSR on a laptop instead of on a teensy-weensy hand-held screen!
