One person was seriously injured in a two-car crash on the West Side Highway at 79th Street on Monday afternoon.
The call came in at 12:18 p.m., according to FDNY. The driver in the vehicle whose engine burst into flames was the one who sustained injuries, according to NYPD. The person was taken to St. Luke’s in serious but stable condition.
Thanks to Ken for the photos.
The congestion by the 79th Street exit is dangerous and the city needs to address the traffic light timing at that exit or something! Not only that, but there are always those slalom racers dodging in and out of lanes. Throw in a motorcycle and it’s a recipe for an accident.
Wow. Scary. Amazing that someone can survive that!!
They should lower the speed limit on the Westside Highway.
Or bring in more New York State Enforcement police.
This is an accident prone area. Not sure if people decide to get off the exit last second and merge back onto the highway or what the case is. Something needs to be done about this.
Stricter rules for getting a license? Require a perfect score on both written and wheel tests?
