2023 Summer on the Hudson Begins May 6; More than 275 Free Public Events Planned

Riverside Park Conservancy has announced the calendar of events for 2023 Summer on the Hudson, its annual, free outdoor arts and culture festival. In partnership with the New York City Parks Department, the Conservancy has planned over 275 events, including live music, movies nights, health and wellness classes, guided tours, educational workshops, and more. Some classes will be repeated regularly throughout the summer. All will take place in Riverside Park between 59th and 181st Streets.

Summer on the Hudson kicks off  in early May with Face the Music, a performance by students from the Kaufman Music Center and members of the Metropolis Ensemble. Face the Music will take place on Saturday, May 6 at 1 p.m., at 125th and Marginal Streets.

The following classes will take place weekly:

Moving for Life, an exercise class will be held every Tuesday in May and June at 6:30 p.m. The class begins with breathing exercises and follows with active aerobic dancing, at 125th and Marginal Streets.

Tai Chi, the slow-moving martial arts practice will be taught on Sundays at 8 a.m. from May 7th through August 20th at the Soldiers & Sailors Monument (89th Street.)

Moosiki Kids Musical Storytime, a story time and sing along for children five and under, will take place on the Locomotive Lawn at 61st on Thursdays in May and June from 10:30 – 11:15 a.m.

Sunset Yoga will take place on Thursday evenings from June through September at 5:30 PM at the 145th Street lawn. Multi-level classes will be taught by instructors from Sweet Water Dance and Yoga. Bring your own yoga mat.

Other events and activities will be held at various times and locations in Riverside Park. Here are some of the highlights. For a complete calendar and more detailed information click here.

Sun Gaze Sundays: The Amateur Astronomers Association will lead a solar system viewing through telescopes once a month from 1-3 p.m. at Pier 1 (70th Street) on the following Sundays: May 28, June 25, July 23, August 6, September 24.

Monuments Tour of Riverside Park:  Guided walks highlighting the history of Riverside Park will be led by staff from The New-York Historical Society. Advanced registration is required. Call 212-870-3089.

Make Music New York:  A musical performance will be held on Wednesday, June 21st from 5-7 PM at Pier 1 (70th Street.)

Birding Walks: NYC Audubon will lead family friendly educational bird walks on Fridays, May 12, July 14, and September 8 from 5:30-7:30 PM. Meet at 120th and Riverside Drive.

Movie Nights:  On Wednesday evenings at 8:30 p.m., from July 5th until August 16th outdoor movies, including Enchanted, Back to the Future, and My Cousin Vinny, will be shown at Pier i ( 70th Street). Bring your own picnic blanket.  Refer to the Summer on the Hudson calendar for exact movie schedule.
