Steve Martin and Martin Short Yell and Gyrate on Broadway for New Show

A Hulu show called “Only Murders in the Building” was shooting on Broadway and 88th Street on Saturday, and Upper West Siders got a glimpse of two comedy legends. In these photos by Alan Rubenstein, actors Steve Martin and Martin Short can be seen doing their shtick surrounded by crew members.

The show, which also stars Selena Gomez, has been shooting elsewhere in the neighborhood too, including on Central Park West. It’s expected to come out later this year. It’s about “three strangers who share an obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves wrapped up in one.”

Is the show supposed to be retro? Check out the first photo. When was the last time you could get anything at a cart for $2? 😂

Re: Photo one. Assuming Steve Martin wouldn’t normally eat a street pretzel (still whole in #4). The show can’t be that retro if he’s talking into a smart phone.

Actually, if you eat under the umbrella in the Wall Street area, hot dogs, knishes and pretzels are all $2.

I think so. I passed the set and saw some old cars parked

It takes place in a parallel universe where pretzels stay the same price for many years

Excellent riposte! I was kinda thrown off by the age of the car, but the modernity of their clothes. It could be an old Eastern European car.

…except that there is a City MD in the background. That definitely is not retro.

Actually, I lived on 23rd street by 7th avenue in 2001-02 and there was a City MD or Med Stop there on the corner. I remember it was new to the neighborhood then, so they did exist almost 20 years back.
