The 7 p.m. nightly #clapbeacuseyoucare celebration has become a raucous ritual filled with clanging pots and even vuvuzelas. Last Thursday, a group called the Peace of Heart Choir led a larger singalong after the clapping to “New York New York”. This Thursday, they’re partnering with radio station WBAI to sing “Lean on Me”. Bill Withers, who recently died, .

“”This week we chose ‘Lean on Me’ as a tribute to Bill Withers, who left us in early April. It’s a truly inspiring song, with a message for our times – that by turning to each other for support, we’re all stronger,” said Amanda Brzezowski, Co-Chairman of The Peace of Heart Choir.

WBAI will air the song a little after 7. On most radio dials, it’s at 99.5.
