Two Injured in Fire at Hotel des Artistes

A fire broke out on Saturday afternoon in an eighth floor apartment at the Hotel des Artistes at 1 West 67th Street.

The call came in at 2:13 p.m. and 25 units with 106 firefighters responded, according to an FDNY spokesman.

Two people sustained minor injuries and were taken to St. Luke’s Hospital. The fire, which was ruled an accidental electrical fire, was under control as of 3:28 p.m.

The apartment where the fire started sustained serious damages, and firefighters bashed out the street-facing windows to create ventilation.

The historic building was constructed in 1917 and was initially a residence for artists. It has a swimming pool and a squash court.

I find the hospital names confusing these days .. Where is St. Lukes ? Still on 59th and 10th ? or is that something else now ? I was up at the Colombia Presp on Broadway/165th ER this past Friday with my daughter and noticed about 5 different names. All this Philanthropy makes for a soupy hospital name
