The Upper West Side has a long and fascinating connection with the movies, and a local history group plans to examine that history in a series of talks. Humphrey Bogart and other famous actors grew up here, and so many directors and actors have lived in the neighborhood we could almost call it Hollywood on the Hudson. Not to mention the great movies that have been filmed on the Upper West Side.
The first talk by the Bloomingdale Neighborhood History Group is Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 6:30 p.m. The dates of the other talks haven’t been announced.
Future talks will highlight other connections between the Bloomingdale neighborhood and Hollywood– the actors, actresses, studio moguls and screen writers who lived here; the movies filmed here; and the more than 20 theaters that were once located here.
