David Thalberg enacts a particularly dramatic moment from his story, which was about an adventure in Upper West Side real estate.
West Side Rag’s first-ever storytelling night was held at Gastronomie 491 on Feb. 28. It featured seven true tales from Upper West Siders about the neighborhood — from stories of youthful debauchery to public embarrassments and the bonds that unite neighbors and roommates.
We’re planning on holding another event in the next month or so, and plan to release details about that in a week or so. In the meantime, enjoy the stories below!
A chance encounter with a hawk…
An actress is recognized on a bus…
An awkward conversation with the rabbi’s wife…
The man across the courtyard…
A dream that became all too real…
“Batman” and the roof parties…
A brave walk to school in the “bad old days”…

That was lots of fun. Looking forward to more Rag Events!
A wonderful way to connect with other UWS-ers. Both the storytellers and the audience seemed to be having a great time.
A wonderful idea! When’s the next one?
