‘Not a Hate Crime’ Police Captain Says

Regarding the reported incident of anti-Semitism that allegedly occurred on April 2 on W. 86th Street and West End Avenue, Captain Neil W. Zuber, commander of the 20th Precinct, told West Side Rag in an email, “…the arrest was made for menacing and the two other suspects are identified. All parties involved are members of the same faith and this is therefore not a hate crime.”

West Side Rag: Please remove the photos of these children from your website. The NYPD has taken these photos down from the Crime Watchers system. If your purpose was to help find these minors, that purpose is no longer relevant. If these were your kids you would not want their pictures being spread on social media.

I think this is an example of why we should not jump to conclusions too quickly, on the basis of a small amount of information.

So much for all of the horrible comments where everyone jumped to conclusions about the motivation, nature of the issue and especially about kids not being “from around here.” Maybe next time we all wait a day, and take a breath before we burn them at the stake. Kids do stupid things — it is part of growing up. Some adults never seem to stop doing stupid things though.

Thank You for the Follow Up, and taking down the pictures.
It was the right thing to do.

I love how west side rag never posts any of my comments because it doesn’t fit their agenda.
