The #1 complaint or I should I say the most important thing to our clients during the pandemic, is to move more, but more so to figure out a way to move more at home!
There are countless exercises and movements you can do at home to get your heart rate up and improve endurance.
The first thing you need to figure out is where you’re going to do your workout. Is in the living, the bedroom or the garage? The next thing is to figure what time/days are you going to perform your workout and how much time are you going to spend performing your home cardio program.
Once you’ve figured out your space and schedule, you want to assess your fitness level. Most of us haven’t been moving as much as we were prior to the pandemic, so you might want to start slowly.
As mentioned above there are many ways to design your cardio program, but one simple way is to pick four or five exercises and perform them for either 30, 45 or 60 seconds. You would determine the amount of time based upon your fitness level.
After you perform a certain movement for a designated time, you would then rest for either 30, 45 or 60 seconds. Your rest period between movements would also be based upon your current fitness level. The better shape you’re in, the less rest you would take between exercises.
After you finished all four exercises, you would then rest for either 30, 45 or 60 seconds and repeat the circuit of exercises two or three times. You could complete two or three rounds in 10/15 minutes. I would recommend you perform the circuit 3-5 times per week.
