A water main broke on West 84th street between West End Avenue and Riverside Drive last night, turning the street into an icy lake. As of early Friday morning, the main appeared to have been fixed but the water was still off, said Howard Freeman who lives on the block and took the photos above and below. It’s a very dicey situation out there, particularly for older people.
Workers were jackhammering late into the night, Freeman says.
