The front half of a snake found on West 75th street on Saturday.
A snake on West 75th street met a very unfortunate end this weekend. Margot Meyerhoff came upon the animal on Saturday after it was run over on 75th street between Columbus and Amsterdam.
“Why and how?!” she wrote. Good questions.
The front of the snake’s body was still apparently in attack mode. Gizmodo reports that severed snake heads can actually bite up to an hour after decapitation.
Click here to see an image of the entire snake, which is quite gruesome.
This isn’t the only recent animal mystery — it was just last year that a deceased bear suddenly turned up in Central Park.

Once you take a cheap shot like that…
Completely inappropriate, not to mention petty and immature.

“It is a ball python…escaped or dumped pet. They cannot hibernate,as far as is known, or take much cold, so it would be an animal outdoors recently.” This according to Frank Indivigilo, Reptile Specialist and my go to guy for all things snake and amphibians.
