Within a 15-minute period on Wednesday afternoon, a bank robber hit two Upper West Side banks, police said. “He first tried to rob an HSBC bank on Broadway near West 102nd Street around 2:10 p.m. and fled without getting any cash, police said. Then, 15 minutes later, the thief went to a Bank of America just six blocks north of his attempted heist and passed a demand note to the teller, cops said.” He got money in the second cash, though it’s unclear how much. No weapons were involved. (NY Post)
The Masa bookkeeper was charged with stealing almost $100,000 from the insanely expensive sushi spot. “This was a raw deal for a hot restaurant,” Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. said in a statement. “This defendant is charged with cooking the books for more than a year at one of the top dining establishments in the country.” (DNAinfo)
