Dessert-lovers take heed. We’ve got a very exciting new addition to the already strong stable of Upper West Side after-dinner spots coming to the neighborhood next month, courtesy of David Chang and his culinary empire.
Momofuku Milk Bar will open at 561 Columbus Avenue around 87th Street in September, New York magazine reported (hat-tip to Eater). David Chang, the inventive chef behind East Village noodle emporium Momofuku and its various spin-offs, added Milk Bar about three years ago, with pastry chef Christina Tosi at the helm. It’s attracted quite a following. Milk Bar is famous for its “Crack Pie” (pictured above), which has an oatmeal cookie crust and basically tons of sugar and butter. The new spot will also serve some savory dishes, including a pork bun with an optional deep-fried soft-poached egg, says New York mag.
Update: The Milk Bar is scheduled to open on September 24.
The arrival of Milk Bar somewhere on the Upper West Side had been rumored about earlier in the summer (at the bottom of post).
Here’s the East Village menu, although they may mix things up a bit when they come to the Upper West Side. The new spot will be bigger than the downtown Milk Bars, and have seating.
