News:
The striking workers at the Central Park Boathouse are telling people who pass by that the Boathouse has been charging customers $8 for bottled spring water that is in fact tap water. They then hand the people bottles of spring water, calling it “REAL and FREE Bottled Spring Water”. Owner Dean Poll didn’t get back to the Daily News in time to rebut the charge. Frankly, NYC water is much better than most tap water — they’re getting a bargain! (NY Daily News, second item)

Upper West Side Amy Krakow plans an after-party at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que — for after her funeral. Krakow is only 55, but she once dated Larry David, so you’ve got to assume that takes a few decades off your life. This kind of post-mortem party-planning apparently is a growing trend. Whatever happened to denial? (New York Post)

Went to a wedding at the Boathouse on Sunday night so had to pass the pickets in order to not offend the bride and groom. The food was so awful and the service so bad that we left before the main course was served apologizing to our hosts that the heavy rain was forcing us to leave early. In fact, we decided it wasn’t worth waiting for the next course. Hope the unions win.
