Take the two finest actors of their generation, put them on a famous outdoor stage in Central Park, and have them perform a dramatic reading of Shakespeare’s greatest love story. Kevin Kline will play Romeo and Meryl Streep will play Juliet in a gala to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Shakespeare in the Park in Delacorte Theater on June 18. There aren’t enough superlatives to adequately describe the event.
Of course they’re not letting in just any shmo. Tickets start at $1,500 each and it takes $100,000 to sit at the Papp Table, which will get you a special mention from the podium and presumably as many breadsticks as you want. Dinner starts at 5 and the show starts at 8. And if Streep and Kline aren’t enough star power for you, Al Pacino will be the guest of honor.
Take me and I might do your laundry for a year.
