The two men pictured above are wanted by the NYPD for allegedly punching and robbing a 59-year-old man on West 60th Street and Broadway last month. The police are seeking the public’s help in finding them.
The victim reported that on August 4, at 7:50 pm, he was approached by two individuals who “punched him in the face and removed approximately $300 dollars before fleeing southbound on 7th Avenue.” According to the description, “one [was] wearing a Rolling Stones t-shirt and the other a white t-shirt. Both were riding scooters.”
The victim refused medical attention.
Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website at https://crimestoppers.nypdonline.org/ or on Twitter @NYPDTips. All calls are strictly confidential.
Editor’s note: The original police report mistakenly gave the escape route as 2nd Avenue. We checked back. It was 7th Avenue.
Glad the first one has good taste in music. And ironic that there is a police car in the background of the picture of the second one.
Lock them up. Give them their trial (hopefully quickly). Then lock them up. Not clear if they are 18 or not but lock them up – close enough. If they are under 18, hold their parents responsible as well. Make an example of them. I don’t care if the victim was badly hurt or not – even if they were not physically hurt, I’m sure this was still traumatizing. And I care a lot more about their mental health than the well-being of the robbers.
I would like to see someone intelligently disagree with me on this. I’m sure someone will try to find a way.
“…hold their parents responsible as well” – pray tell under what criminal statue would this be achieved? Ridiculous.
Spouting reactionary nonsense serves no purpose whatsoever.
And I’m sorry but when did the WSR become nothing more than a police blotter? This is not journalism, it’s just propagating copaganda – for a crime that happened over a month prior.
Frahnco,
I encourage you to look at the website. There are stories about openings and closings of local businesses, the state of our local parks, profiles of neighborhood pooches, and submissions of poetry.
And yes, there are stories of local crimes.
Not exactly your typical Stones fan. And before anybody accuses me of racism, I’m saying he’s too young to appreciate the Rolling Stones.
No disagreement here on everything else Leon!
I agree with you, and especially the idea of holding the parents responsible as well. Every person (male and female) who’s accosted me in the last 2 years has clearly been under the age of 18. : (
I’m with you, Leon.
Enough of this. Let them enjoy the Rikers experience.
The best way to avoid Rikers is to not commit crimes.
They will be released within hours, the case will go to family court and will result in zero punishment. Raise The Age, means no consequences and encourages criminal behavior. Kids who could be saved are not because the systems no longer holds them accountable at all.
How could they escape on Second Avenue if the crime took place on 60th/Broadway? They are nowhere near one another!
Because that’s where the cameras were. It mentions it in the article.
Debra, the larger point is that these thugs are on the loose and need to be tracked down and jailed.
See: Editor’s note: The original police report mistakenly gave the escape route as 2nd Avenue. We checked back. It was 7th Avenue.
If they’re arrested, we can count on Alvin Bragg to downgrade the crime to something not serious and not prosecute them. He came to office saying that he won’t prosecute assaults and gun crimes unless they result in a death. So, now we have repeat violent offenders with no fear of being prosecuted until they finally kill someone. And even the rare person who is prosecuted will not be held in pretrial detention so they are free to keep assaulting people because of the downgraded charges and bail reform.
Just out of curiosity, why do the police wait an entire month before releasing photos?
Seriously! That was the first thing I thought. Maybe it took time to find the images? But if I were notified sooner, I would know to steer clear of thugs on scooters. Feels like you need a bullet proof/punch proof bubble to walk around in to avoid any kind of trouble in NYC today. This stuff really bums me out.
Let’s make sure they go to jail. No excuses.
Hold them at Rikers until trial. I am sick of this.
Didn’t think a mayor could be worse than De Blasio, but Adams surely is. The the city council weaponized thugs when they approved e-vehicles —all so they could get their food orders faster.
Adams has nothing to do with this. Scooters are not allowed on the sidewalk and neither is any other bike-like ride, but that was De Blasio’s City Council that told cops to back off enforcement, not Adams. Secondly, the issue is State bail reform, which Adams has already been screaming about, and he can’t fix that, either — it’s a legislative issue. And thirdly, it was the De Blasio administration that approved e-bikes, but these are scooters, not bikes. Get some facts straight, please. By the way, e-bikes were approved during the pandemic, but they are not relevant here.
Those are not E-Scooters
E, as in easy to step off, do whatever, and flee.
If the robbery occurred at Broadway and 60th, how would the victim know that the robbers fled down 7th Ave?
8th Ave., yes, since that’s across Columbus Circle.
Or is it that the NYPD is saying the robbers fled east on Central Park South, then went down 7th Ave?
Upstate communities need labor force. Farms in NY, Vermont and other states are closing up.
Let me take these two boys to turn them into men of society. NYC and NYS, even the Feds can help but not essential. Too much red tape.
Do not send them to jail if this is their first.
Families and governments have failed.
Let the citizens try.
I agree, except if you’ve ever read about the scandals having to do with farm rehab, and the like—exploitation and abuse—or the outdoor “experience”schools and such…this is the problem: adult authority has thrown in the towel. That solution would be out of sight, out of mind. Philosophically, a back to nature, wilderness experience would be ideal. If only adults were able to carry it off without be practicing criminal activity themselves…
Don’t send them to jail if this is their first offense? I just read this story…one of many. If this young woman had been sent to jail the first time maybe this wouldn’t have happened (7 prior arrests)! : (

About a week or two ago WSR reported that 2 men on scooters robbed 2 girls in the tunnel in Riverside Park off 72nd st. There was no description of the 2 gents. Any reason we can’t assume these are the same culprits?
“Gents”, huh?
I thought the men who robbed the girls in Riverside Park were the same men who knocked down and attempted to rob two girls near the Guggenheim. They were riding a moped. The two men in this article are look much younger and they’re on scooters. Still, equally as traumatizing for the victims. : (
Im wondering if perpetrators who robbed the smoke shop at 71 st and shot a bystander have been found by police. Can WSR follow up?
