October’s leaves formerly green
Present a multi-colored scene
Saffron, yellow, flashy red
Mauve and orange now instead
Winds that blow shake the leaves
Floating downward from the trees
They swirl about, then settle down
Form a carpet on the ground
Surprise additions are many more
On windows, stairs and brownstone door
Halloween’s humor and horror in sight
And tykes in costumes bring delight
October ends on a day of fun
For grown-ups and for little ones

BTW there is crafts fair at Lincoln Center this weekend Sept30-Oct 1.
Unfortunately no notice
Oh, no! I always go to the Lincoln Center Crafts Fair and heard nothing about it this year. Did it happen?
I love this! October /Autumn and Hallowe’en are my favorite season and holiday, respectively. Thank you for this posting and the festive images.
The ghost exiting through the window scares me!!!
Best time of the year!
Lovely poem! Fall and winter are my favorite seasons here in Manhattan, although I avoid the touristy areas even more than usual in Dec.
What a gift of images and words (and wit) Mildred left us. All done a year ahead! Sweet legacy to her readers and unknown fans.
