A tree came down on West 75th Street between Amsterdam and Columbus Avenues on Sunday evening.
Several cars were damaged and the street was blocked.
A red Prius seemed to absorb the bulk of the damage, with its roof crushed and front window broken. A Jeep parked behind the Prius also suffered a broken windshield.
By Monday morning, crews had removed the trunk and limbs, leaving just a fresh stump and several damaged cars.
According to the NYC Parks Tree Map, the tree was a thornless honey locust with a 16” diameter trunk. It was last inspected on April 20, 2023 and found not to be in need of any work.
Amazing, the blue Lexus right in front of the tree looks like it just had a little scratch!
Rain rain rain
Recent sidewalk work?
The tree wells in this berg are too small to support a 16″ diameter tree. There’s not much we can do about it.
Tree vs. Prius? Is there any scenario where the Prius can win? Rigged contest, fake competition, phony titling. LOL
I understand the Prius was last inspected in November 2022 and also found not in need for any work!
