A fight over parking on Friday may have been the reason for a dispute between two men in front of 152 W. 76th Street, between Amsterdam and Columbus Avenues, an NYPD spokesperson told WSR.

Whatever had tempers flaring on that hot afternoon around 3:30 p.m., it led to one man stabbing the other man, 35, in the stomach with an unknown object, NYPD confirmed. The victim was transported to Mount Sinai Morningside [St. Luke’s] hospital in stable condition. The attacker fled on foot and was last seen headed southbound on Columbus Avenue, police said. NYPD described the attacker as a male with a dark complexion, possibly wearing a “locksmith shirt.”

A resident of 154 W. 76th spoke with WSR early on Saturday morning. The victim was a large-item trash collector who was parked at the curb, she said, “to pick up old furniture, mattresses and things like that.”

She did not witness the fight, but said her building manager had been asked to recover surveillance video of the incident. NYPD said it did not yet have any viable video on hand, but that the investigation is continuing.

Why report on something when there’s no first hand witnesses and it’s all speculation?
