Text and Photographs by Stephen Harmon
Most days, my wife Cynthia and I take a morning walk on the Upper West Side. I always carry my camera, because there is always something or someone interesting or beautiful to photograph. The other day we were walking on the south side of West 65th, along the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, between Amsterdam and West End Avenues, where we saw such a great, enjoyable, free outdoor art show, featuring huge head shots of some of the school’s creative and exuberant students. Each one is so unique, so funny, so compelling. They made us smile and wonder if we were looking at a future Jennifer Aniston (who went there), Al Pacino (who did, too), or some other brilliant star. I hope you get a chance to walk down there.

Had the same experience of turning the corner and finding myself in the middle of a fantastic exhibit!
My first encounter with JR’s work was inside the hospital at Ellis Island, and ever since, I’ll make a special trip to check out his latest pasting or film or whatever… Love that these students and JR came together in such a positive, creative, fun way!
Wonderful! Will have to check it out
Next it should be reproduced in tiles so it can be a permanent installation.
How long is the exhibit up?
