Openings and Expansions: Boisson, Lululemon, By the Way Bakery, The Gathering Shops

Boisson, a non-alcoholic beverage shop, is opening on 75th Street and Columbus, our tipster Scott writes. “The dry drinks and mixology store offers alternatives to beer, wine and spirits. It will be Boisson’s fourth location in NYC, replacing the Couture Kids clothing store.”

Fitness clothing is being replaced by…fitness clothing. A new Lululemon is going into the old Athleta space on 70th and Columbus.

By the Way Bakery on Broadway between 90th and 91st Streets is expanding next door to 2440 Broadway. It is gluten-free and dairy-free. Thanks to Linda Rosenthal for the tip.

The Gathering Shops, a clothing, accessories, and household goods store with an in house designer, has opened in the old Mimi’s Cleaners space at 550 Columbus Ave between 86th and 87th at 87th Street. It’s staying through at least January. “They plan to host community events and meet and greets with designers and artists,” writes our tipster Christine.

Lol. Agree. I figure it’s probably got good ROI and without the alcohol hoops.
But man…… do people never run out of ways to spend money? I have plenty of ways just on basics.

Sounds like an awesome idea to sell alternatives to something that kills 95,000 Americans a year. It’s great to see. I’m very excited to welcome Boisson to the neighborhood!

Stop by my new vegan butcher shop on the way home and you’re all set for dinner.:)

Come to think of it, we could have something from the gluten-free, dairy-free bakery for dessert.

Where The Banana Republic used to be? They are going to open a grocery store directly across the street from…where there used to be a grocery store?

UWS Logic: If 1 is good, 12 will be better. (For 6 months then they will all be gone)

By the Way Bakery is the most civilized, pleasant establishment on the UWS. It’s a pleasure to spend $ there.

I guess they are expanding into the old copy shop location. Their baked goods are wicked tasty.

Another Lulu Lemon?! Ugh. Athleta is so much better, and more reasonable, too. I hope they’ll come back to the UWS.

When I expressed the same sentiment, someone on FB (how’s that for a citation?) said Athleta is coming back to the UWS next year; they just weren’t able to renew their lease.

We desperately need a new supermarket on
W. 86 and Broadway. Let’s pray it’s not insanely expensive!

My nephew visiting from Ohio went to the East Side shop and bought a bottle of non-alcoholic bourbon to cut the strength of his favorite drink, Manhattans. Still, he ended up drinking the whole thing over the weekend.

He went through a whole bottle of fake bourbon while using it to dilute his real alcohol? He may have an issue. Who knew there ever was such a thing as non-alcoholic bourbon.
