Photo by Katrina McDonald of the fire on 91st street.
Two fires broke out on Friday afternoon around 2 p.m.
One on the 8th floor at 470 West End Avenue (83rd street) drew about 60 firefighters, who were able to get the blaze under control in just 18 minutes, according to an FDNY spokesman. There were no details available about how the fire began.
The other, on 91st street between Columbus and Amsterdam, appears to have started in a furnace at a New York City Housing Authority Building. It sent huge plumes of smoke wafting across the neighborhood, as seen in the photo below by B. Greenstein. The FDNY did not immediately have information on the fire. Thanks to Lisa Akey for the tip.
Feldman-the-Fire-God must have a “thing” about the digits “7”, “4” and “0”!
Because, as TNYT reported, before the fire at 470 West End, there was ALSO a fire one day earlier at the ultra-exclusive 740 Fifth Avenue, a notorious haven for the One-Percent.
Guess it proves that wealth is no protection against the wrath of Feldman!
Long live Feldman!
Interesting thing about Feldman is the pivot he made. He was a lifeguard at Seacliff Beach Club in Atlantic Beach, NY in the 60s. Strictly water and then to fire. What a God.
