Police are looking for the man depicted in the surveillance image above, in connection with the beating of a man at a business on West 80th street called Les Hommes, a gay entertainment shop.
The attack occurred on Saturday around 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, according to Gothamist.
“The 42-year-old male victim sustained a laceration above his right eye and facial fractures while inside of a room at the location… The victim was transported by EMS to St. Luke’s Hospital where he was treated and released.
The police released a surveillance image of a black male, explaining that he’s “wanted for questioning” and “was with the victim during the time the victim sustained the injury.””

There are at least two gay bathhouses operating in Manhattan. (More, if you count the ones that have mens’ days.) You might be surprised to know that the AIDS-related panic of decades past has been replaced by an understanding that men on the “New meds” (i.e., post 1996 meds) have undetectable viral loads (if they are compliant with the regimen) and cannot pass on the disease to others. That, and PREP, have ushered in a new and tentative sex-positivity in the urban gay community. Will this mean a bathhouse renaissance? Probably not because younger guys are comfortable hooking up online. There will always be venues for those who want NSA sex, do not want strangers in their home, are on the DL, etc. I doubt their cash flow would keep up with the rents paid by Citibank for its bodega-killing corner-uglies, but bathhouses prefer more discrete mid-block or fringe locations. We needn’t worry that the strident mothers of Maclarendale will have to shield the delicate eyes of their babies from the sight of these establishments.
