Grace & St. Paul’s Church at 123 West 71st Street (between Broadway & Columbus) is hosting a very unique service this Saturday at 5 p.m. In honor of St. Francis of Assisi, the church will open its doors to all sorts of animals — and its flyer notes that “Animals of all faiths and none are welcome.” St. Francis was known to care for animals. The offering on Saturday will go to the Toby Project.

I’ve heard that in the past there is singing and someone reads a story about animals. If you go, send us a picture! Below is a shot from the church’s facebook page.

Our primary goal is to create a safe and respectful space where a broad spectrum of voices can be heard. We welcome diverse viewpoints and encourage readers to engage critically with one another’s ideas, but never at the expense of civility. Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate. “Animals of all faiths and none are welcome.”

So the animals really aren’t welcome?

Where’s my copy of “Eats, Shoots & Leaves?”
