Prosecutors have accused a landlord who owns multiple properties in and around the city of using his rental apartment at 135 Central Park West, known as the Langham, as a kind of rape den, according to the Post. Eliseo Adorno, 67, is accused of drugging and raping multiple women, and then filming or photographing them.
“Each image and video depicts an asleep or unconscious woman photographed in the most intrusive way imaginable,” Manhattan prosecutor Melanie Soberal said at Adorno’s July 20 arraignment on criminal sex act, rape, sex abuse and unlawful surveillance charges.
“They have absolutely no recollection of any of the conduct depicted in the images or videos,” Soberal said, noting that the victims were so passed out that “on some videos, snoring can be heard in the background.”
Authorities uncovered 350 sexually explicit photos and 45 videos taken between October 2014 and March 2015, court records show.
At his July 20 arraignment, the judge ordered Adorno held without bail. His lawyer told Gothamist that while the prosecutors have brought up four alleged instances of sexual assault, “the defendant has only been charged with assaulting 2 complainants.”
(To be clear, Adorno does not own the Langham, which is a rental building. He owns properties elsewhere in New York.)
Tragic violence. I hope the women recover soon and go on to have the better lives they deserve.
If found guilty he should get the maximum allowed by law.
These kind of violent crimes against women should be stopped, once and for all, and nailing this suspect for the max will help in detecting others from doing the same.
And, once found guilty, I hope, it should be publicized,
Big time!
“IF” he is found guilty?? That is just the kind of misogynist legal system we are dealing with here. Never mind the 350 sexually explicit photos and 45 videos . . it’s not as if physical documentation is incontrovertible evidence or anything like that! FFS
Take a deep breath. Even Hitler would have the presumption of innocence in our legal system.
Not if he was sent to Gitmo.
Anyone else find it interesting that he owns buildings in the city and yet rents at a building he doesn’t own? Like maybe he didn’t want to besmirch his bldg with his stomach-turning actions.
Living in the lap of luxury?
Oh, come on! We all know NYC landlords are guilty of rape every day. Old folks, young folks, yuppies, minorities, men, women, LBGT, we all suffer. This guy just got caught. There are many fish in the sea!
