A special weekend of architectural tours known as Open House New York is this weekend, and three Upper West Side churches will host special tours.
St. Paul and St. Andrew Methodist Church on 86th street and West End Avenue will hold tours every 15 minutes starting at at 1;15 p.m. on Saturday. “Skip Boling, the architect who did our major renovation of the lower level/WSCAH space several years back, will be with us for the tours,” says Elizabeth Jensen of the church. The Cathedral of St. John the Divine on 112th and Amsterdam will hold tours on both Saturday and Sunday. More here.
First Church of Christ, Scientist will hold tours on Saturday and Sunday. “Discover this Beaux Arts church and its white marble and granite facade, green copper dome (42 feet in diameter and 100 feet high), grand entrance doors, and glorious interior.” More here.
