Jacob’s Pickles will try again on Tuesday night to win the community board’s approval for a basement bar at its restaurant on 84th street and Amsterdam Avenue. Owner Jacob Hadjigeorgis, who wasn’t able to come to the last meeting, sent us a statement after his initial application was rejected:
“We understand the concerns and will continue to support the community in every possible way we can. We appreciate the support of the board to make the Upper West Side a vibrant destination and place to live.”
The Jacob’s application will be heard at a “pre-meeting” at 6 p.m. at Congregation Rodeph Sholom (7 West 83rd street), before the full board meeting starts at 6:30. See the full agenda below.

Will we have to wait another yearwhile this community board debates the merits of a safe North bound bike lane?
Since City Bike is expected to arrive on the UWS in the Fall, the only responsible thing for the Community Board to do is to debate it and make the recommendation to DoT (?) for it before then.
