It’s Monday, time for Abigael Sidi’s weekly venture in search of another culinary highlight for Here’s the UWS Dish. Abby writes with the knowledge and maturity of a seasoned foodie, though she’s just in the first semester of her senior year in high school. It helps to live in a very food-oriented family, as she explained to Rag Radio’s Claire Davenport when they dined together at The Smith, on Broadway at West 63rd Street.
Hear more from Abby, how she chooses restaurants and dishes, and what she thinks of The Smith’s burgers, at the link below.

Thank you Abigael!
Hi Subway, thank YOU for your readership!
One can feel just how much Abby loves the neighborhood. No wonder your column is so great. More uplifting stories like these please, we need them in these troubled times
Hi Dan: thank you for your kind words and readership. You’re one my most loyal readers, much appreciated!
Now every restaurant in the neighborhood will know what your reviewer looks like!
Hi Sal: thank you for your comment. I dyed my hair for Halloween, might have to keep it that way!
So no beer, specifically no Guinness.
Hi Jay: thank you for your readership. Only a matter of time!
I LOVE the column. Can’t wait to see what Abby recommends every week and then I actually go to these various spots. Places I would never have thought to have gone. Like that Hala place on West 83rd? I went that day and got the Samich with the two flalafal balls. So so good. Many others as well. One tip. Go to Kossar’s and get the BLT on a toasted bialy. The best blt I have ever had.
Perfect shredded lettuce. Perfect bacon. Mayo. So fresh. Yummy!!!
Oh, and I’ll definitely check Kossar’s BLT on bialy, sounds amazing. Thanks for the rec!!
Hi Trumpinator: thank you for your kind words and readership, much appreciated!!
Trying to stir things up, Trumpinator? Moshe’s is kosher, not halal, but that conversation opened a whole can of worms in the original review!
A senior in high school? Now I’m even more impressed and appreciative of your articles. Love them — keep them coming!
Hi Amy: thank you for your kind words and readership! I get a lot of help from family, friends and my Rag editors, and I’m delighted you enjoy the results!
Thanks for your delicious reviews!
If you’ve not been, check out Epices Bakery on 70th Street.
Will definitely check Epices. What do you recommend there?
Hi Alisa: thank you for your kind words and readership!
Delightful interview — and yes, we love your columns, Abigael — keep up the great work! Side note: as a burger lover, yes, The Smith’s offering is ambrosial.
Hi John: thank you for your kind words and readership. The Smith’s burger is in the works. It’s a big one and I’m planning to steal your “ambrosial” as a qualifier, if you don’t mind 😉 Beautiful new word for me!
PS:
In the neighborhood, our family is a big fan of Fairway Cafe especially the BLT and fries.
Yum.
But further away in the Bronx 🙂 , Claudy’s Peruvian is a great spot for empanadas and flan
Hi again subway! Thanks so much for the recs. Fairway Cafe’s is the second BLT that has been recommended to me this week, will have to check it out
+1 for the Fairway Cafe!! Underrated and awesome
