Goop Kitchen, an upscale fast-casual eatery focused on delivery and takeout, is opening in the fall of 2026 at 364 Amsterdam Avenue (between West 77th and West 78th streets). Founded in California in 2021 by actress Gwyneth Paltrow as a way to “make clean, delicious, and satisfying food more accessible, Goop Kitchen serves clean, thoughtfully sourced food made-to-order,” a representative wrote to West Side Rag. “The menu includes a lineup of delicious, nutrient-dense food with something for everyone including salads, bowls, pizza, pasta, wraps, soups, rotisserie, and desserts.” Goop Kitchen has a number of locations in the Los Angeles and the Bay area. Eater  reported plans to open a location in  Flatiron this summer.  “There will be multiple locations throughout  NYC,” the representative wrote.  The Vitamin Peddler, which closed in December 2021, was the last tenant in the space. (Thanks to Ellen for the tip.)

The Belgian chocolate shop Neuhaus is coming soon to Columbus Avenue. Photo by Lisa Kava

Neuhaus, a Belgian chocolate shop, is expected to open in May at 189 Columbus Avenue (at West 69th Street), a representative confirmed to West Side Rag. The chocolate company has 14 shops in the United States, including nine in New York. Founded in Belgium by apothecary Jean Neuhaus in 1857, all chocolate and truffles are still made near Brussels and freshly imported from Belgium, the representative said. Neuhaus specializes in the “Belgian praline” – chocolate filled with praline. “Our products are free of palm oil and crafted with 100% sustainably sourced cocoa,” the representative wrote. The store on the UWS will offer truffles, chocolate mousse, hot chocolate, and coffee, in addition to chocolate pralines. It will be the first store in the U.S. that will offer coffee and hot chocolate, and that will have an outdoor seating area. The space was previously Viva La Crepe, which closed in January 2026. (Thanks to Scott for the tip.)

Gothic Cabinet Craft will take over Shakespeare & Co.’s old space. Photo by Natalie Demaree

Gothic Cabinet Craft, a wooden furniture store, is moving from its location at 2652 Broadway (between West 100th and West 101st streets), to 2736 Broadway (at West 105th Street). The old space closed on February 27th, and the new location will open by the end of March, a company employee told the Rag on a phone call.  Gothic Cabinet Craft sells wooden furniture items (such as beds, desks, tables, chairs and bookcases), for bedrooms, home offices, kitchens, and dining rooms. The company has multiple locations throughout the New York metropolitan area. Shakespeare & Co. the bookstore which closed in March 2025, was previously in the space that will be Gothic Cabinet and Craft’s new home.  (Thanks to Joan for the tip.)

Casasalvo, the Italian coffee shop on Amsterdam Avenue, is expected to reopen soon. Photo by Lisa Kava

Casasalvo, an Italian coffee shop, at 473 Amsterdam (between West 82nd and West 83rd streets), is temporarily closed. Owner and Chef Salvo Lo Castro wrote in an email to West Side Rag that the shop would reopen the week of March 16th, but did not give the reason for the temporary closure. Signage on the door originally said it would reopen on February 23rd and currently says it will reopen on March 23rd. Casasalvo opened for business in May 2024. (Thanks to Amy for the tip.)

The athletic-wear store Salomon has signage up on Columbus Avenue. Photo by Lisa Kava

Salomon, a Europe-based athletic wear store, has signage up at 270 Columbus Avenue (between West 72nd and West 73rd streets). Salomon features its own brand of athletic footwear and apparel for sports such as running, hiking, skiing, and snowboarding. The brand also features athletic equipment and accessories, including running belts, backpacks, socks, and headwear. Salomon has a number of stores in European cities including Paris, London, Barcelona, and Rome. Other NYC locations are in Soho and in Brooklyn.  We will update when we have more information about any specifics to the Upper West Side location, and an expected opening date. Johnny Was, a women’s clothing store which closed earlier this month, was previously in the space. (Thanks to Scott for the tip.)

Columbus Park Dental has taken over the space next door. Photo by Lisa Kava

Columbus Park Dental, a dental office at 40 West 72nd Street  (between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue), expanded into an empty space next door during the week of March 9th, a representative confirmed to West Side Rag. The two spaces are not connected but patients will be seen in both places. The office offers full-service dentistry, including routine cleanings and check ups, emergency care, and cosmetic dentistry. (Thanks to Scott for the tip.)

Perhaps the new “Lucia” and old “Just Salad” restaurants will fix the sidewalk outside their locations – along with ” Pop Up Bagels” a little further up on Columbus Ave. Huge tripping hazards in place for years! .DOT should do their job. – and see that these conditions are corrected, for the safety of the public.
