STEVE JOBS MEMORIAL GROWS: POST-IT NOTES, DRAWINGS, APPLES, CANDLES, CLIPPINGS, IPHONE VIDEOS

The day that Apple announced Steve Jobs had died, a small makeshift memorial popped up at the Apple Store on 67th Street and Broadway. By Friday, the memorial had grown much bigger, with post-it notes, flowers, photos, partially eaten apples, candles, newspaper clippings, and handmade drawings. When I stopped by and snapped the picture below on Friday morning there was even one guy speaking into a microphone attached to his iPhone to record a video about the scene. Check out some pictures below:

The Apple store is also finally removing the black panels that it put up at the front of the store after the windows were damaged by some unknown projectile a few months ago. Pictures of that are at the bottom of this post.

Our primary goal is to create a safe and respectful space where a broad spectrum of voices can be heard. We welcome diverse viewpoints and encourage readers to engage critically with one another’s ideas, but never at the expense of civility. Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate.
