Landmark West, Gale Brewer and others are trying to raise $60,000 to $80,000 to buy a new boiler for West-Park Presbyterian Church on 86th and Amsterdam, which received landmark status last year against the wishes of the congregation. Rat Island, a pile of rocks off of City Island in the Bronx, was sold this weekend for $176,000 to City Island resident Alex Schibli, who likes to swim there from his home. It’s probably the first island to be sold in New York for centuries. (Malcolm Carter)
