People placed flowers and candles in front of the Upper West Side Apple Store to commemorate and mourn Steve Jobs’ death. Someone also placed an iPhone next to the flowers with a picture of Steve Jobs on it, as you can see in the picture by @alexisloinaz above.
Landmark West, Gale Brewer and others are trying to raise $60,000 to $80,000 to buy a new boiler for West-Park Presbyterian Church on 86th and Amsterdam, which received landmark status last year against the wishes of the congregation. Services can’t be held in the church without the new boiler. (DNAinfo)

Rat Island, a pile of rocks off of City Island in the Bronx, was sold this weekend for $176,000 to City Island resident Alex Schibli, who likes to swim there from his home. It’s probably the first island to be sold in New York for centuries. (Malcolm Carter)
