The New York Film Festival is hosting a special screening of a work in progress from a “master filmmaker” on Monday at 7 p.m. The thing is, the Film Society won’t reveal anything about the film or its director, so you’ll have to buy tickets on faith. The film buffs on its website are speculating it could be Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, War Horse, or maybe J. Edgar. If you’re not a member, you’ll have to fork over $20 to find out. Tickets go on sale today at 9:30 a.m. at the box office.

Eva Moskowitz’s Success Charter Schools is planning to open a new charter school in another middle class neighborhood: Cobble Hill, Brooklyn. And just like on the Upper West Side, the school plans to co-locate in existing public schools. Dear Cobble Hill, don’t even bother resisting. There was a huge parent uprising against it here, and the city couldn’t possibly have cared less. (NY Times)
