Workers got stuck 15 floors up at one building, and building materials fell to the ground at another on Friday morning.
Two workers were stuck on a window-washing rig 15 floors in the air at 99th street and Broadway around 10:30 am. and had to be pulled through a window, according to CBS News.
And shortly before noon, building materials fell from a building at 905 West End Avenue at 104th street and smashed into a parked car, cracking the front window and completely smashing a side window. The materials included a brick, according to Ernie Fritz, who heard the smash from his apartment and then took the photos below (and also witnessed the other incident). Ernie says the workers appeared to resume work afterward. An FDNY spokesman said “Things were falling from the building,” but didn’t have further details. And a Buildings Department spokesman did not return a request for comment.
Upper West Siders have been hurt from falling construction materials before — in 2011, for instance, a child was hit by a hammer dropped by a worker on 95th street and Riverside Drive.
