Police are looking for a woman they say tried to walk away with a child at Heckscher Playground around 63rd street in Central Park.

At 10:30 a.m. on May 12, the he woman grabbed a two-year-old boy off a swing and began walking out of the playground with him, according to A Walk in the Park. “The child’s nanny, a 27 year-old female who was pushing the victim’s brother on an adjacent swing, stopped the suspect from exiting the park and removed the child from the suspect’s arms. ”

The suspect is described as “a black female, approximately 32 years-old, 5’2″, 140 pounds with short curly black hair and was last seen wearing dark colored pants.”

The public can also submit tips anonymously by logging onto the Crime Stoppers Website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or texting 274637(CRIMES), then entering TIP577.

Thanks for posting/alerting. Brazen acts like this are always the scariest. I take my 2 and 4 yr old to this playground. It’s a reminder to always be alert and pay attention the best you can, which isn’t always easy with two kids with each of them running the opposite way.
