FEATHERS GET RUFFLED AT RIVERSIDE CAFE

parrot

A parrot relaxed on Wednesday night at the Pier I Cafe at West 70th street inside Riverside Park. It sipped liquid (Chardonnay?) from a plastic cup and took in the sights, boldly wearing white after Labor Day. And like all parrots it probably ordered exactly what the person before it ordered.

Thanks to Bette Kerr for the photos.

That’s actaully a cockatoo — a Moluccan, I think. They’re in the parrot order but a different family.

There are signs up in Riverside Park about a cockatoo that got away. Maybe this is the one. Anyone have the contact info from the sign?

Correction: This bird is a cockatoo, not a parrot.

This is unacceptable! I want to go back to a time when this neighborhood wasn’t gentrified by giant exotic birds!
