It’s another week full of Juiliard concerts, including Philharmonic conductor Alan Gilbert leading the Juilliard orchestra.

Robert Mealy Leads Juilliard415 | Chaos and Order: Dance Suites from the French Baroque

Monday, October 21 at 8 PM at Alice Tully Hall (1941 Broadway)

Robert Mealy, “New York’s world-class early music violinist” (The New Yorker) and director of Juilliard Historical Performance, leads the School’s period music ensemble, Juilliard415, in a program of brilliant and inventive orchestral suites from Paris in the early eighteenth century, including Rebel’s Les Élémens and Rameau’s Hippolyte et Aricie, Naïs, and Les Indes galantes.

Alan Gilbert Conducts the Juilliard Orchestra

Monday, October 21 at 8 PM at Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage (57th  Street).

Music Director of the New York Philharmonic and Director of Conducting and Orchestra Studies at Juilliard, Alan Gilbert leads the Juilliard Orchestra in their only Carnegie Hall performance of the season. The program features Bartók’s romantic first violin concerto performed by Juilliard violinist Elizabeth Fayette, and concludes with Bruckner’s passionate and colorful seventh symphony.

78 Below, bar and live music venue on Columbus apparently shut down around 1:30 Saturday morning. Shuttered and dark ever since. No note on door. Bad news for people who appreciated live music virtually seven nights a week with no cover. And great bartenders.
