Con Ed Explosion Causes Sky to Glow Blue

An apparent transformer explosion and fire at a Con Ed substation in Queens caused the sky over New York to glow blue on Thursday night. Police said the fire was under control and there were no injuries.

Several West Side Rag readers sent videos of the effect.

The light show was spectacular tonight. Twitter went nuts with people from all over the country wondering if it was the coming of Zul (Ghostbusters) or the beginning of the the Rapture. Interesting to read was people think about our fair City. Mostly positive but other-worldly, some wishing it was the landing of one of Putin’s new hypersonic ballistic missiles. I was just thankful the lights stayed on.

“For just as the lightning comes from the east, and flashes even to the west, so shall the coming of the Son of Man be. (Matthew 24:27 NASB)…

Re: “Astoria elected a new pope.”

EXCELLENT!

Classic NYC snark & cleverness…something them’s in “The Flyover States” just do not “get”…but, think about that famed “New Yorker” cover by Steinberg, ‘The View From Ninth Avenue’: there ain’t much out there in Trumpland.

There was a low cloud cover last night. Ceiling about 3000 or 4000 feet. All we saw was the reflection of the spectacular explosion and subsequent fire.

Despite what I’ve heard and read today, I believe this light is other worldly. I’ve personally seen blue light(s) like this in the sky, day and night. This isn’t the forum to try to convince people of ‘other’ life in the universe but I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s more to this story than what’s being reported. Maybe not, but ‘maybe’…
