Before Passover, Jews burn their leavened bread to get ready for the holiday. On Monday morning, a child helped with the ritual in front of Ansche Chesed at 251 West 100th Street.
Maybe don’t burn it that close to a building and below peoples’ possibly open windows? Maybe burn it in something that is designed for a fire, like a grill? This looks like the before picture of a Darwin Award.
Andy — the building they are burning the bread next to is their Synagogue. I walk by it everyday. It is not next to an apartment building. Thanks for the hysterics.

I love to see tradition carried out by the younger generations. It is important that we teach our families our religious and cultural history or it will die with us. Not only would be a tragedy for our children to be unaware of their history, but a slap in the face for all who suffered for us.
Happy Passover!

Many traditions are best left to be forgotten, including many if not most religious traditions. But hey happy bread burning.
