Is this your cat? It was last seen at the garage on 90th between Amsterdam and Columbus by the Citi Bikes. “It’s healthy and looks well fed and I believe it’s probably lost.”
Has anyone taken the cat in, or given temporary shelter until an owner/adopter might be found?

Poor kitty. Meanwhile, I am commenting about Commenting: why not end anonymous comments altogether? We are a neighborhood, theoretically, so why cant neighbors own their own words and take responsibility for comments? It would certainly curb the vitriol.
Fair point, but for now we think it gives people freedom to comment on the site without worrying that everything they say becomes part of their searchable online history. WSR
Currently, most won’t take responsibility for their comments, even choosing not to reply when debunked.

Would someone (poster) please ask the people at the garage if they know anything re: time-line, etc.

i believe if the cat wasn’t taken in by someone it would be considered “cat spotted” and not “cat found”. Article says it was “last seen” so it seems to me that no one took it in.. which is sad since it’s so cold out and the article also states that it’s probably lost.
Cold weather is not great, but felines are remarkably resourceful and can often survive.
A friend on the UES has seen a “stray” on her block for about a year now. Last she saw it was last spring crouched near a pile of plastic garbage bags put out for collection, and obviously was hunting mice.
Fast forward to Saturday before last when it was freezing cold and snowing she saw the same cat on its rounds (again likely hunting rodents), going about its business. She wanted to run and get it some cat food from local 24/7 Rite Aid, but the little guy having canvassed one side of the street had crossed and was making his (or her) way up the block.
I understand about cats being resourceful and able to be outside but that’s not my point.. the point is that the cat wasn’t found or taken in.. just noticed. obviously the cat looks friendly to get that close of a picture. I wish the person had picked it up and at least taken to vet or shelter to get scanned. if it’s lost.. maybe they could have found it’s guardian.
Please take to local vet to see if Cat has a microchip.

I am currently one cat short of crazy cat lady and would be too tempted to keep it, plus I do not live in that nabe (luckily) but I cannot fathom why the poster did not ask the business how long they have observed the cat and if they have the impression it is stray. I have adopted cats in the past that were hanging around businesses and I ASKED!

Foist of all, it may be a close-up of a scaredy cat, not a picture taken up close. The cat does not look particularly calm to me. Secondly, not living uptown, and being one cat short of crazy cat lady, I am still wondering why the person who was concerned did not follow up by asking people in the vicinity of the garage about the length of time the cat was observed there and other impressions.
It’s not too late…please don’t make me have to go up there myself!

The garage attendants are looking after it but it comes and goes so they think it might be from the projects next door. West side vet asked that it be brought in and checked for a chip but I didn’t have acess to a carrier.

Okay, does it seem to be tame? Does it run away when approached. Just curious. Uh oh…
