Comments can be one of the best things about West Side Rag, but they can also go off the rails. And lately they’ve been going off the rails.
There are some people now commenting under numerous aliases with the intention of attacking one or two particular commenters. That turns the comments section into a small clique of angry people endlessly covering the same material (“rent control is bad!” “no it’s good, and you’re bad!” etc. etc. etc.) Then if these comments don’t all get posted, people get mad. Enough. Y’all must have better things to do with your time!
We’re asking everyone to use one alias, and comment on the topic at hand. We want people to feel free to add to the discussion without the name-calling nonsense. We plan to delete comments that aren’t civil and don’t adhere to these basic tenets. This is a neighborhood site, with readers from many different backgrounds who hold many different perspectives. That’s what makes it great!
