Hurricane Sandy may have pushed the awful murders of two Upper West Side children off of the front pages of newspapers. But Upper West Siders are still grieving. Tonight, community members will come together in Riverside Park for a flashlight vigil to remember Lulu (Lucia) Krim, 6, and Leo Krim, 2. The two children were killed in their home at 57 West 75th Street on October 25, and their nanny has now been charged in their murders.
Marina and Kevin Krim, Lulu and Leo’s parents, have been active community members — they are members of the JCC and Lulu went to PS 87. Marina also taught art classes to children at the Hippo Playground in Riverside Park around 92nd Street. So tonight, parents will gather in the playground to remember the children. From the Riverside Park Fund:
Last week our Upper West Side community was so saddened by the loss of Lulu and Leo Krim. Our hearts are broken by this devastating and tragic news and our thoughts and prayers are with the Krim family, now and always.
Marina Krim has been an integral part of the Hippo Playground family this past year working to enrich our children’s lives through her weekly art classes. We are so grateful for her devotion and dedication to our community.
Please join the Hippo Playground Family on Sunday, November 4 at 8:00 pm in Riverside Park for a Flashlight Vigil to support the Krim family.
