Ollie’s Noodle Shop at 2925 Broadway (between 89th and 90th) was robbed sometime late last night or early this morning, as burglars smashed through the front door, the NYPD told us. But the thieves apparently didn’t get much. So far, the full extent of the losses appears to be “approximately $20,” said an NYPD spokesman.
“They broke the lock, the window. They just come in and take some pennies,” said Peggy, an employee. “Nothing to steal. A couple dollars.”
Ollie’s was open for business as of this afternoon.
The burglary occurred sometime between 11:30 p.m. on Sunday and 9:15 a.m. on Monday. No arrests have been made and the incident is still under investigation.
Thanks to Emily Baer for the photo and tip.
They must have been trying to get that extra cup of house mustard and house duck sauce, the request for which always seems so puzzling and not understandable to the phone-order taker, who had been understanding you quite well right up to that point!
The place was not “robbed.” It was burglarized. If the victim is present it’s a robbery; if not, it’s a burglary.
You’ll never hear a bank robber say “stick em up, this is a burglary.”
