IMAGES FROM A SUNDAY STORM: DRAMATIC CLOUDS, AND A GLOWING JERSEY FIRE

Summer’s electric skies have produced all sorts of dramatic images in the past month, and Sunday’s storm was no different. David Leite shot a picture of the storm out of an Upper West Side window as it approached.

And Upper West Sider Nicolas Lawson took the photo below of a fire caused by a lightning strike on River Road in New Jersey that ended up knocking out power for hundreds of customers, according to reports. This photo’s from 102nd Street and Broadway looking West (click on it to expand).

Here’s another shot of that fire from Jersey.

And here and here are some of the most dramatic storm photos we’ve seen this summer.

Thanks to everyone who has been sending in photos and tips.

So, I have come to depend on you for local news, and I hoped you’d tell me about something awful that happened in our neighborhood today – apparently, someone dumped a body on 93rd Street, near Riverside Park. I have been distressed all day about it, and have an inexplicable need to understand what happened. How awful for some person to be treated in that way.

Anyway, I don’t actually blame you for not knowing (or, in any event, not posting about it). But I thought you’d like to know one of your followers really follows you carefully!
