In case you missed it, we posted a ton of coverage about Hurricane Irene, including a full Upper West Side Survival Guide, an article on the celebrities in the neighborhood’s one evacuation zone, a column on how local animals were preparing for the storm, a series of photos of the storm’s fury and its aftermath, a video of golden retrievers playing in the Hudson River flood runoff, and a time-lapse video over Central Park. A basketball star who went to Brandeis High School on the Upper West Side is now holding his own against some of the best basketball players in the world playing summer ball on courts like Rucker Park, Dyckman Park and West 4th Street. The 5’11” phenom, Adris Deleon, is known as 2 Hard 2 Guard. He’s held his own against NBA players Sebastian Telfair and Brandon Jennings. (Fox News Latino)
The National Labor Relations Board is now getting involved in the Central Park Boathouse labor dispute. The board is planning to issue a legal complaint against the Boathouse, and ask a judge to force the Boathouse to negotiate a contract with the union, even though there hasn’t been an election to see if the 140 workers want to unionize.
