You know how cars instantly lose value as soon as you drive them off the lot? Smartphones and tablet computers seem to gain value once they become used. As soon as you’ve got your photos and documents on that handy device, losing it becomes almost unthinkable. So if you do misplace it, or it gets stolen, you’re willing to pay serious money to get it back.
That’s what happened to a guy named Steve this week after he lost his iPad at or near the Starbucks on 86th Street and Columbus Avenue. He’s offering $250 in cash to the person who brings it back to him. In fact, he would be willing to shell out whatever it takes. “I’ll give more money if need be, don’t care about the cash, need the Ipad.”

LOST:
– A brown wallet left in a cab at West 83rd Street on Saturday.
– The black and white button-down shirt wrapped up in a mail parcel and left on the 1 train. It belonged to the poster’s father.
– A guy lost his iPhone 4 at Jake’s Dilemma on Monday night (or it was stolen). He’s offering an “excellent reward”. It has a picture of him with his blond cairn terrier as the main image. Aww.
– Francesca lost her Blackberry Curve 8520 “somewhere between the AT&T shop on Broadway and 77th and 270 77th near the Belleclaire Hotel.” She’s also offering a reward.
– An envelope-style portfolio with the words Ville de Cannes on it, and papers for a project inside, left either at Rockefeller Center, at the Whole Foods in the Time Warner Center, or on the M10 heading North.
