The city has created a special lane spanning nearly two whole blocks where only limos can park in front of the buildings on Riverside Boulevard overlooking the Hudson from 59th to 72nd Street. If someone parks their Honda in the lane from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., it gets towed. It’s thought to be the only lane reserved for limos in front of residential buildings in the city. (New York Times)
Jesse Wasserman, a boarding school dropout from New Rochelle, pleaded guilty to a series of armed muggings in Central Park last summer, and now faces up to 4 years in prison after making a deal to be charged as a youthful offender. He and an accomplice used a fake gun. (NY Daily News)
The Central Park Zoo just got a cute red panda named Biru from the Oklahoma City zoo. That’s got to be an upgrade for him, right? (WNYC)
Eater calls newish Upper West Side restaurant FishTag “serviceable but somewhat sad,” with a confusing menu and so-so food. But it wasn’t all bad. “The service was perfect for the environment, the place was fairly crowded with a good vibe considering the windowless room, and there were plenty of regulars at the bar (though that may say more about the sad state of Upper West Side dining than about the quality of this place.) The food was bad and fairly pricey but not inedible.” (Eater)
Bank of America is testing a plan to create three tiers of banks, so it can give rich people special service and the rest of us poor shmos the crappy service we deserve. No word yet on whether any of the branches will be locate don the Upper West Side. (The Business Review)
