A 28-year-old man was killed after he apparently jumped from a 1 train while standing in between two cars at around 9:40 a.m. Saturday morning, the NYPD told us. The train was traveling North and was between the 96th Street and 103rd Street stations. NYPD ha snot identified the man, because his relatives have not been notified as of 1:30, a spokesperson told us. The NYPD believes that his death was a suicide and no criminality is suspected. Gothamist also reported that the subway car filled with smoke. We’ll update this as we learn more.
Train service was briefly suspended between 42nd Street and 137th Street, but is back up and running again, according to the MTA. With the subway down, people waited in long lines for the bus:
The line for buses going uptown is insane, thankfully I’m headed downtown instagr.am/p/LqFtMozQb-/
