NYC Health Commissioner Dr. Dave Chokshi will join a Zoom with Councilmember Mark Levine next week to discuss how a vaccine might be distributed in the city, and how New York is handling the latest wave of Covid-19.

The first vaccinations in New York are likely to take place as soon as next week, with front-line health care workers and nursing home residents likely to be in the first cohort. Local officials are likely to decide the order after that (local bloggers apparently are not a “priority”). This tool from the Times allowing people to estimate where they’ll be in line is interesting, though inexact.
Wife is a physician in state hospital. they are getting doses for a third of the hospital, and most will be used for ER / critical care staff. Next round comes in January. there is a long winter before this is sorted even for frontline workers.
Yes, this is what I’ve heard. Frontline med workers first, then nursing home residents and workers. Asked our Dr. in NYC about this and he said he doesn’t know about general distribution yet. Keeping our ear to the ground …
Given that people of color are 3x as likely to die of covid than white and Asian people – see link below if you don’t believe me – they should be prioritized in the vaccination program.

Death rates are higher because of increased incidence of co-existing conditions such as diabetes and obesity. It has been stated repeatedly that individuals with co-existing conditions will be prioritized over those without.
I have talked to a fair number of people about the vaccine. Most say they won’t take the vaccine. I asked an MTA bus driver what he would do if the MTA said he had to take it. He said he would resign. Everybody is saying there will be a shortage of the vaccine for a long time. I think there may be an oversupply.
