In a time of great strife around the world, some people find solace in a cup of frozen yogurt, preferably from a machine that lets you choose your own flavors. On Friday, as His Holiness the Dalai Lama prepared to speak at the Beacon Theater this weekend, a handful of monks made their way to 16 Handles on Amsterdam between 75th and 76th. They may or may not have partaken of the fro-yo. But it’s nice to think that they did.

Last year when the Dalai Lama was at the Beacon a group of us waited outside to see him come out and give a blessing.
When he appears we all broke out in song — what song you ask — why, of course, Hello Dalai, well, hello Dalai….”
